From Field to Lightroom:
How it works

Private Wildlife Photography Tuition & Lightroom Coaching - bookable 1:1 sessions

Choose your path:

  • Beginner Starter Session (90 min) — £100

  • Lightroom Classic Essentials (3 hrs, 1:1 online) — £200

  • Field coaching, critiques, small groups, and talks available below

  • Pick the option that matches your goal — quick confidence boost, Lightroom clarity, or field coaching.

If you’re unsure, don’t overthink it:

    • New / rusty → Beginner Starter

    • Editing pain → Lightroom Essentials

    • Wildlife moments + timing → Field Coaching

You’re choosing a starting point, not signing a treaty.

  • After you enquire, I’ll ask a few simple questions (skill level, gear, what you’re struggling with, location preference).

This is where we remove guesswork and make the session about your outcomes, not generic tuition.

No long forms. No back-and-forth saga. Just enough clarity to make the session land properly.

  • We run the session, then you get a short follow-up summary so you can repeat the process confidently (instead of relying on half-remembered advice).

    You leave with:

    • a clearer framework

    • actionable next steps

    • and fewer “why didn’t I think of that?” moments next time you shoot/edit

Book Beginner Starter Session (£100)

Beginner Starter Session (90 minutes) — £100

If you’re new, overwhelmed, or quietly convinced your camera hates you — this is the cleanest on-ramp.

  • Best for: You’re new, rusty, or stuck in auto and want a clean, confidence-building start.

  • You’ll leave with: A simple shooting framework + a “what to practise next” checklist (no wandering in circles).

  • Format: 90 minutes, 1:1, in-field (Surrey/London spots) or tailored local meet-up.

  • We focus on understanding what matters first — and ignore the rest for now.

    You’ll learn how to:

    • take control of your camera without memorising everything at once

    • recognise situations where small changes make a big difference

    • stop guessing and start making deliberate choices

The aim is confidence, not complexity.

  • Composition shouldn’t feel like a magic trick.

    We’ll break down:

    • how to place your subject with intention

    • why some frames feel balanced and others don’t

    • how to avoid “spray and prayer” shooting

You’ll start seeing frames before you take them.

  • You don’t leave with homework — you leave with direction.

    You’ll get:

    • a short “what to do first” checklist

    • a clear sense of what to practise and what to ignore for now

So you stop wandering in circles and start improving with purpose.

Book Lightroom 1:1 (£200)

Lightroom Classic Essentials 1:1 (Online) —
3 hours — £200

Learn how to take a flat RAW file and turn it into an image that breatheswithout presets, and without becoming a part-time UI archaeologist.

  • Best for: You shoot RAW, but your edits feel flat, inconsistent, or slightly… accidental.

  • You’ll leave with: A repeatable Lightroom workflow + your cheat sheet + the confidence to edit without presets or panic.

  • Format: 3 hours, 1:1, online (Zoom/Meet), using your images and your usual workflow.

  • We build a clear workflow from import to export that you can repeat on your own.

    You’ll learn:

    • how to approach an image step by step

    • what to adjust first — and what to leave alone

    • how to avoid over-editing while still adding depth

The goal is consistency, not speed.

  • This is where Lightroom becomes expressive instead of technical.

    We’ll cover:

    • masks, gradients, and local adjustments in plain language

    • shaping light to guide the viewer’s eye

    • using tone and contrast to support the subject, not overpower it

Tools stop feeling random when you understand why you’re using them.

  • Editing isn’t enhancement — it’s clarification.

    We’ll look at:

    • how small decisions change emotional weight

    • when an image feels finished (and when it doesn’t)

    • how to edit so the image says what you want it to say

Most people leave seeing their own work differently — which carries into how they shoot.

    Included: Lightroom cheat sheet

Book Field Coaching from £295

Wildlife Photography Coaching 1:1
(Field + Editing + Review)

We start early because wildlife doesn’t sleep in.

This is about reading behaviour, predicting moments, and building sequences that feel like a story — not a lucky screenshot.

  • Best for: You can handle the camera, but you want stronger wildlife moments — behaviour, anticipation, and cleaner frames.

  • You’ll leave with: A short list of “keeper” images + a clearer instinct for moments before they happen.

  • Format: Early field session + follow-up review/edit (timing and location agreed after enquiry).

  • Pricing: From £295 — priced after a quick call based on goals, options & location.

  • We focus on understanding what the animal is about to do, not just what it’s doing now.

    You’ll learn:

    • positioning and anticipation

    • recognising behaviour cues

    • choosing when to wait — and when to move

This is how missed moments become expected ones.

  • After the shoot, we slow things down.

    You’ll get:

    • a no-ego review of what worked and what didn’t

    • edits of your strongest frames with clear reasoning

You leave knowing why certain images work — and how to repeat that success.

  • Most sessions start with focused in-field coaching.

Editing support, structured Lightroom sessions, and follow-up critiques can be added depending on your goals.

    Typical examples:

    • In-field coaching only → £295

    • In-field + Lightroom workflow (same day) → £495

    • In-field + Lightroom + critique follow-up (Multi day + partial online) → £595

Buy gift voucher from £100

Gift voucher (any experience)

Give a photography experience that’s about more than settings and gear.

FeatherFrame gift vouchers can be used for any session on this page — from beginner introductions to Lightroom coaching or field-based wildlife photography.

Choose a specific experience, or let them decide later.

Vouchers are valid for 12 months and tailored around the recipient’s interests and level.

  • Photography gifts often fall into two categories:

    too generic or too technical.

    This avoids both.

Instead of buying gear they may not need, you’re giving:

    • time in the field or focused 1:1 guidance

    • confidence instead of confusion

    • an experience that adapts to their pace and interests

It works just as well for beginners as it does for people who already “know their way around a camera.”

  • This voucher works for a wide range of photographers — because the session is shaped around them, not the other way around.

    It’s suitable for:

    • beginners who want a confident, pressure-free introduction

    • hobbyists who feel stuck or inconsistent

    • wildlife and nature photographers looking to improve timing, composition, or editing

    • people who already have the gear but aren’t getting the results they want

No assumptions. No judgement. Just meeting the photographer where they are.

  • More than a lesson — you’re gifting clarity.

    The session focuses on:

    • understanding why images work (and why they don’t)

    • building a repeatable way of seeing, shooting, and editing

    • confidence to make decisions independently

It’s not about chasing perfection or copying a style.

It’s about helping the photographer develop their own voice and enjoy the process more.

Book Refresher & Critique (£100)

Refresher & Critique Session (Online) - £100

This session is about tightening decisions, removing noise, and seeing your work more clearly.

  • Best for: You don’t need a full lesson — you need a sharp reset and honest feedback on real work.

  • You’ll leave with: A clear set of fixes + what to repeat + what to stop doing immediately.

  • Format: Online 1:1 critique (send a small set of images beforehand; we review together live).

  • We identify what’s holding your images back — without fluff.

    Common issues:

    • unclear subject

    • heavy-handed edits

    • conflicting visual signals

Once identified, they’re easy to fix.

  • Not everything needs fixing.

    We’ll highlight:

    • frames that already work

    • decisions you should keep repeating

    • patterns you might not have noticed

Confidence grows when you know what you’re doing right.

  • We refine how the image is read.

    You’ll learn how to:

    • guide attention

    • simplify visual flow

    • make the viewer look where you want them to look

    Small changes, big impact.

Talks & Storytelling Lectures (Clubs & Groups)

Sometimes the most important part of photography happens without the camera in your hand.

  • Best for: Clubs and groups who want something deeper than “use a faster shutter speed.”

  • You’ll leave with: Practical narrative frameworks + real behind-the-scenes lessons (including the failures).

  • Format: 45–90 minute talk + Q&A, in-person or online, tailored to your group.

  • How stories form across frames.

    We explore:

    • sequences and tension

    • behaviour as narrative structure

    • why single images often need context

  • Composition as communication, not decoration.

    We discuss:

    • framing decisions

    • visual hierarchy

    • emotional weight in simple scenes

  • Not every story involves a rarity.

    We look at:

    • building compelling stories from common species

    • seeing opportunity in what’s actually present

    • consistency over luck

You get the energy of learning together — without being lost in a crowd.

    • Or a hybrid

    No vague “bit of everything”.

    You leave with:

    • clearer instincts

    • shared insights
