See the light.
Shape the story.

From dawn walks with herons to Lightroom sessions where a grey RAW turns into something alive, I teach you to see — and edit — differently. No presets, no gimmicks. Just craft, light, and the occasional bad joke.

From Field to Lightroom:
Learn to Tell the Story

Your day might begin at dawn, knee-deep in the grass as the mist lifts and the herons wake. Or it might begin with a cup of coffee and a Lightroom Classic screen share. Either way, it’s about more than pressing buttons — it’s about seeing the story that’s already there and learning how to shape it.

What I teach isn’t presets or gimmicks. It’s a narrative-driven approach to photography: understanding light, behaviour, and composition in the field, then revealing that story in post. Sometimes that means painting with light in Lightroom; sometimes it means waiting twenty minutes because a bird refuses to play along. Either way, you’ll leave with sharper eyes, a stronger workflow, and photos that feel alive.

Lightroom Classic Essentials 1:1 (Online)

Learn how to take your photos from flat RAW files to images that breathe. In this focused 1:1 Lightroom workshop, I’ll guide you through my editing workflow, from stretching dynamic range to painting with light. No presets, no shortcuts — just a clear, narrative-driven approach that you can repeat on your own. You’ll leave with a workflow, a cheat sheet, and a new way of seeing your photographs.

  • We’ll look at your current editing habits and build from there — refining, polishing, and tailoring Lightroom to your style instead of forcing you into a one-size-fits-all approach.

  • From masks to gradients to colour grading, you’ll discover how to use Lightroom’s tools as storytelling devices, not just technical tweaks.

  • This isn’t about presets. It’s about sharpening your eye and learning to reveal the story within each image — so you finish with photos that feel alive.

Wildlife Photography Coaching 1:1 (Field + Review)

We start at dawn, because wildlife doesn’t sleep in. From Bushy Park stags to wetland herons, we’ll work on reading behaviour, predicting movement, and getting closer to the story you want to tell. After a morning in the field, we’ll sit down together to review and edit — shaping those moments into finished photographs. You’ll experience the full arc: from observation to capture to narrative edit.

  • We’ll head out at dawn, learn how to read behaviour, and anticipate moments before they happen. It’s about patience, instinct, and timing.

  • After the shoot, we’ll go through your images together — looking at what worked, what didn’t, and why. It’s critique with clarity, not jargon.

  • We’ll edit your best images so they don’t just look good — they say something. You’ll leave with finished photos and sharper instincts.

Talks & Storytelling Lectures

Sometimes the most important part of photography happens without a camera in hand. In these sessions, I share how to approach wildlife photography as narrative: not just “nice shots,” but stories that connect. Available for clubs, societies, and groups, these talks combine practical examples, behind-the-scenes anecdotes, and the occasional terrible joke about ducks.

  • These talks go deeper than apertures and ISO — they’re about the narrative threads that make images resonate.

  • I’ll share both successes and near-misses to show how stories are built in practice, not theory.

  • This isn’t about presets. It’s about sharpening your eye and learning to reveal the story within each image — so you finish with photos that feel alive.

Small Group Masterclass (Online or In-Field, up to 4 people)

Learning in a group has its own kind of magic. Whether we’re sitting online together with Lightroom open or out in the field chasing light and movement, a small masterclass means you learn from me and from each other. With no more than four people, there’s space for individual feedback and collective discovery — a blend of tuition, conversation, and a few inevitable tangents about ducks.

  • In a group, you see different approaches to the same subject — one person’s edit might inspire you to rethink your own. With no more than four people, it’s intimate enough to stay personal but dynamic enough to spark new ideas.

  • Want to dive deep into Lightroom and narrative editing? Or spend the morning in the field practising focus, timing, and composition? You can choose an editing masterclass, a shooting workshop, or a mix of both.

  • Group sessions bring out a relaxed, social atmosphere. Questions bounce, ideas spark, and everyone goes away with not just new skills but a few fresh perspectives on photography.

Refresher & Critique Session (Online)

Already had a workshop, or just want quick feedback on your latest shots? In this shorter online session we’ll review your work, refine your editing, and talk through what’s working and what isn’t. Think of it as a personal trainer for your photography, minus the sweatbands and burpees. Perfect for keeping momentum and sharpening your eye.

  • We’ll review your latest images together, highlighting strengths and pinpointing areas for growth without the ego or fluff.

  • Learn subtle changes that elevate your work — from guiding the eye with light to calming distractions in the background.

  • This is a quick reset button for your photography: keep your skills sharp, your edits strong, and your storytelling moving forward.
